No Thanks, I’m Good. Really?

All of us like to think we are good.  The truth?  None of us are.  This is because only God’s rules, His Law, are a true measure by which to judge goodness.  And every one of us have defied God and broken His Law (sinned).  We have lied, stolen, cheated, lusted, and worshipped things besides God.  So in spite of any good things you may think you have done, by God’s standard, you are guilty because of your sin.

Justice requires that there be a penalty for sin and God, as a just judge, will exact that penalty.  There is only one punishment for sin:“The wages of sin is death”.  Sin carries a sentence of an eternity in Hell, separated from God and His blessings.  Justice is without hope for the guilty.

Yet hope exists.  It exists because of God’s love for you displayed through the life of Jesus.  Jesus lived a sinless life of obedience to God then died on a cross, taking your punishment upon Himself.  Jesus was buried then, after three days, He rose from the dead.  His death provides an opportunity to be forgiven for sin.

Through His resurrection, we have hope for an eternity with God in Heaven.  “The wages of sin is death but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord!”

God’s mercy, which triumphs over His judgment, is available to you.  Turn from your ways to God’s way (repent).   Confess your sin to God, asking His forgiveness and believing God that Jesus died for you.  Acknowledge Jesus for who He is, the Sovereign Lord of all Creation, and ask Him to take charge of your life!  He will save you, “For all who call upon the Name of the Lord will be saved.”

Today, the Lord has set before you life or death.  You can choose to turn to the Lord Jesus and receive Him as your Lord or you can choose to leave things as they are.  Choosing Jesus brings forgiveness and eternal life with a place in heaven reserved for you.  A choice to leave things as they are guarantees that you will receive the wage for sin: an eternity of suffering in hell.  The choice is yours.  Which will you choose?  Life or death?

If you desire to choose life today, you can.  Turn to Jesus, believing that He died, was buried, and rose from the dead to give you the opportunity to be forgiven and receive Him as your Lord and Savior.

Lord Jesus,

I want to choose life.  I confess that I am a sinner.  I believe that you died for my sins that I might receive forgiveness. I believe that you rose from the dead to give me hope.  I ask You to forgive me as I turn from living life my way to living life your way.  I want you to be the Lord of my life.  I ask you to come into my life and my heart, taking charge of my life.  Thank you for loving me.  Thank you for saving me.

Amen
